Rangers are set to sanction a loan deal for Ben Williamson to move to Partick Thistle as the strong relationship between the two Glasgow clubs continues.

According to the Scottish Sun, the 21-year-old is set to become the latest Ibrox youth player to leave the club for Fir Park despite the fact he is currently at the club’s Germany training camp.

The report claims that Ben Williamson will complete the move to the Championship club on his return as the young Rangers star looks to aid their Scottish Premiership promotion push.

The Jags suffered a late collapse in their Premiership playoff clash with Ross County, who despite holding an aggregate 3-0 lead over the Dingwall side collapsed in the final 20 minutes of the match and were eventually beaten on penalties.

Young Rangers star Ben Williamson has fresh experience going the distance in the second tier having just spent last season on loan at eventual Championship winners Dundee.

Rangers sent the youngster on loan to Dens Park last season after he just signed a new contract in the summer, with Williamson’s current deal to expire at the end of this season.

Although he has never played for the Rangers first team, Williamson has enjoyed successful loan spells with Arbroath and Raith Rovers in the Scottish Championship either side of a challenging spell with Livingston in the top tier.

The Partick Thistle move for Ben Williamson is also the latest deal which is set to be struck between Rangers and their Glasgow rivals, with whom the Gers clearly have a strong relationship.

Under the management of Ian McCall previously, the Gers sent a series of youngsters on loan to Fir Park including Lewis Mayo, Cole McKinnon, Tony Weston and Juan Alegria in recent seasons.

Under Kris Doolan that path well-travelled appears to still be open with Rangers set to send Ben Williamson on loan to Firhill this season.

Whilst there has been no official confirmation of any deal, Ben Williamson faces stiff competition at Rangers and a loan move appears to be the best outcome for all parties involved.
