The Rangers scouting team have certainly been casting their net far and wide in the search for talent this summer.

Nils Koppen has ensured the Ibrox scouting network gets into just about every nook and cranny of world football with links from across Africa to South America cropping up in the press.

But whilst there is always something exciting about signing a relatively unknown talent from foreign shores, the club also have a duty to source the best young talent closer to home.

Now, a report has claimed that Rangers have sent scouts to watch one of Scottish football’s brightest young teenagers as pre-season kicks off across the country.

Rangers watch Miller

Lennon Miller was named Motherwell’s Young Player of the Year last season whilst also being nominated for the SFWA Scottish SPFL Young Player of the Year and the PFA Young Player of the Year awards.

Only 17 years old, the Scotland U21 international has both a physical build and on-pitch composure which belies his teenage years.

Making 32 appearances for Motherwell last season, Miller is one of Scottish football’s hottest properties and his development at Fir Park has reportedly caught the eye of Rangers.

Football Scotland are claiming that Rangers scouts were in attendance as Motherwell kicked off pre-season, with Lennon Miller the focus of the Ibrox side’s attentions.

Miller impressed on the day too, having a hand in Motherwell’s second goal in a 2-1 victory over Livingston.

It’s claimed that Rangers are ‘interested’ in the teenager, who is contracted to Motherwell until 2026.

Rangers legend Barry Ferguson has previously insisted the Gers should move for Miller, claiming the kid has ‘unbelievable talent’.

Koppen targets best young Scots

Whilst it remains unclear just how highly Motherwell value Lennon Miller, the midfielder certainly fits the revamped Rangers transfer bill.

Under Nils Koppen the Ibrox side have a 14-point recruitment plan as the club looks to rebuild a squad which has fallen into disarray.

Amongst those targets is securing the futures of the best young talents in Scotland and already Rangers have upset Aberdeen by signing a deal with Connor Barron.

Lennon Miller, it appears, could be next.

The son of former Aberdeen and Scotland striker Lee Miller, there are few players in Scottish football of whom bigger things are expected.
