Watching the various superstars being lured to the Middle East on silly money seems miles away from Rangers transfer budget and yet James Tavernier’s name is being linked along with the likes of Neymar and Paul Pogba.
The Light Blues skipper is one of the top earners at Ibrox but there isn’t much that James Bisgrove could do if the 31-year old decided to set his family up for life.
Normally, a move like this would be laughed off, however, transfer journalist Dean Jones has claimed that Rangers might have to replace James Tavernier this summer.
Theoretically, they already have.

Do Rangers have a replacement for James Tavernier already?
The signing of Dujon Sterling from Chelsea was thought to provide cover at right-back and centre-half, it could now turn into our Tavernier replacement.
With 101 goals, Tavernier will be a hard act to follow.
Speaking to GiveMeSport, Dean Jones has revealed that the prolific full-back could be in for a life-changing move:
“The demand for top players in Saudi is clear at this stage and I’m hearing this is going to impact Rangers too – Tavernier is one of the players being eyed for a big payday so it will be interesting to see if that progresses.
“This summer the number of new players landing in Saudi Arabia is high – genuinely we could be looking at 40 players from across Europe suddenly being part of their league.”

On 90min.com, they have included Jones’s revelation as part of an article covering all the players who might be heading to Saudi Arabia, and it certainly backs up his claim that there could be a mass emmigration from across Europe.
A possible reunion with Steven Gerrard could also be on the cards following news that he could be flying out to the Gulf.
Sterling, with Adam Devine as back-up, would give a different look to the Rangers starting XI with James Tavernier having been at the club for so long.
On a long term contract and money no object though, Michael Beale might soon be about to discover that every player does have a price on their head.
