Antonio Colak will be hoisting the Rangers scarf above his head in the coming days as PAOK line up a replacement, according to a Rangers-centric journalist.

The Rangers Review are claiming that the Gers are closing in on a deal for the 28-year-old Croatian international and will complete it in the near future after seven or so days of protracted coverage in the press.

This comes amid claims that PAOK have lined up Fortuna Düsseldorf star Khaled Narey as the Antonio Colak replacement [Sunday Post] with everything seemingly in place for the Rangers deal to go through.

Speaking as part of the platform’s Daily Briefing, journalist Derek Clark gave an update regarding the Ibrox side’s pursuit of the striker.

“We’re still waiting on Antonio Colak, we’re told that should be completed soon,” said Clark.

“The only bit of information we know (in terms of incomings) is that Colak should be done soon.

“I see some comments slating Colak himself, it’s not the player’s fault it’s PAOK his club who are looking to get a replacement in before they sell him.

“They are wanting to cover their base, that’s what’s holding up the deal so far. The player’s agreed personal terms and he is itching to come.

“Hopefully it can be complete sooner rather than later and he can get over and mixed amongst the squad.”

Antonio Colak to Rangers edges closer

Rangers will reportedly pay £1.8m to bring Antonio Colak to Ibrox from PAOK and this would represent solid business for the Ibrox club.

The Gers reportedly recouped £1.5m from the sale of Swiss international striker Cedric Itten to BSC Young Boys meaning the net outlay for Colak will be around £300k.

Rangers fans are already well familiar with Antonio Colak after he broke Ibrox hearts with a deadly double in the 2-1 Ibrox defeat to Malmo in last season’s Champions League qualifiers.

Meanwhile, Rangers fans have been getting excited by a series of rumours surrounding a once £6m-rated Belgian born African international winger.
