One of the four big deals secured by Rangers this month, was Jordan Jones signing a pre-contract agreement with the club.
He is set to join from Kilmarnock in the summer, on a four-year contract.
The Northern Ireland international expressed his delight at the deal on Twitter and incurred the wrath of many Killie fans.
It’s clear that he has wanted to be a Ger for a long time. Come the summer, he will get that opportunity.
Yet, while pre-contact agreements for both he and Kamara incur no financial risk, they are different propositions to January additions Steven Davis and Jermain Defoe.
The latter pair are proven high quality performers. The former certainly have talent, but are not yet the finished article.
Jones demonstrated that clearly during back-to-back international appearances in November.
Inconsistency has to be a concern
In the first match, against the Republic of Ireland, he came on as a substitute.

Only given half an hour to make an impression, he was electric. He stretched the opposition, beat defenders and but for an excellent save, would have scored a fine solo winner.
That display earned him a start a few days later, against Austria.
However, he didn’t look the same player.
His ball control consistently let him down, his crossing was poor and in general, he looked a fish out of water.
The two performances were night and day.
At Kilmarnock, dips in form can be forgiven, but the expected standard jumps when you are a Rangers player.
Being unplayable once a month isn’t good enough, and Jones will look to find the consistency, which will make his switch to Ibrox a whole lot easier.
