Rangers POTY frontrunner valued at £10m+ amid Premier League interest

Rangers star Joe Aribo has arguably been the club’s Player of the Season so far but according to one ex-Ger Premier League clubs could come calling to the tune of £10m+ in January.

The Nigerian international has been the talk of Ibrox Stadium over the last few weeks and has come into his own not just as a talented player, but as a responsible leader in the team.

If anyone was to get pass marks for the disgraceful Hibs showing at Hampden, it would be the ex-Charlton man.

But since then Aribo has gone on to impress under Giovanni van Bronckhorst and appears an increasingly important figure in the Ibrox side.

Unlucky not to score against Sparta Prague – playing in a new role just behind Alfredo Morelos at times – Aribo did find the net against Livingston.

The curled effort over Max Stryek matched Aribo’s stylish performance with the effort touching the underside of the bar and looking as effortlessly cool as the man whose boot it had just left.

Aribo has always been a technically gifted player but has spoken often about Steven Gerrard’s desire for him to impose himself on the game. This has come through at times this season.

A powerful presence as much as he is a silky, long-legged flair player, Aribo has talent in spades and finally we’re beginning to see him take more responsibility in each and every game.

Sometimes there is still a touch too much where there doesn’t need to be one but increasingly, Aribo is central to our performances and is a player on an upward trajectory.

But with 18 months left on his contract, the 25-year-old’s development this season could be attracting interest south of the border and that’s something Rangers may be compelled to act on.

Especially if – as Barry Ferguson has claimed – bids north of £10m start to drop into the Ibrox club’s email inbox.

“You’re looking at over £10million [for Joe Aribo],” said Ferguson [GO Radio].

“Depends how long he’s got left on his contract, he might have a couple of years, I’m not sure.

“You know you’ve got a chance of losing your best players. If they perform well up here, teams down in England are going to come in and pay big money.

“But, for me, you’re looking at over £10million for Joe Aribo.”

Stylish, likeable and effortlessly talented at times, Joe Aribo might not be at Rangers forever but Ibrox fans are enjoying watching the attacking midfielder develop into a serious player.

Rangers’ worst fears regarding Aribo could be met sooner rather than later with the midfielder reportedly a target for three Premier League clubs.
