But it was Premier League side Leeds United who won the race to secure the player’s signature, signing Crysencio Summerville on a three-year contract in the summer of 2020.

Going on to make six appearances for Leeds United in the Premier League this season, the youngster is highly regarded at Elland Road.

According to Frankfurter Rundschau, Crysencio Summerville remains a key target for HSV in the summer after they saw a deal for the player collapse in the winter window.

But they claim the German outfit face stiff competition from Ibrox for the winger with Rangers able to offer more money to compete for the Leeds United star.

The report also suggests that Rangers’ status as a top flight club and the Ibrox side’s success in Europe in recent seasons also puts them in pole position in the hunt for Crysencio Summerville.

Gers boss Giovanni van Bronckhorst also may be well acquainted with the youngster from his time at Feyenoord, the club at which Crysencio Summerville came through the youth ranks.

Crysencio Summerville also made some headlines in youth football recently after netting a hattrick in the Leeds United U23s 3-2 win over their Crystal Palace counterparts.

American manager Jesse Marsch would go on to praise the youngster’s professionalism after the game and hinted that he may be more involved for the club in the coming weeks [Football Scotland].

This would suggest that any Rangers move for Crysencio Summerville would be a loan one and the report comes ahead of what promises to be a busy transfer window at Ibrox.

Numerous players are out of contract, others are entering the final year of their deals, and a high turnover of players is expected in the summer.
