Rangers have rubbished high-profile links to Algerian international midfielder Ahmed Kendouci, according to club partners Heart & Hand.

The Gers had been linked with a move for the 23-year-old ES Setif midfielder in the African sports press before the news began to spread in Scotland.

An apparent exclusive in Football Scotland would then claim that Rangers had made initial contact with the Algerian top flight club with a view to making a loan move for the player.

That report claimed that Michael Beale’s side were directly interested in a move for the player but that Rangers face plenty of competition for Ahmed Kendouci, amongst them a club in Croatia.

Apparently, ES Setif would rather have arranged a permanent deal for the player but Rangers want a loan-to-buy with discussions at an early stage and the Gers “confident” a deal can be struck.

But these claims have since apparently been rubbished by the club, as per Heart & Hand, who quote Rangers as saying there is “nothing in” the links.

“Nothing in” Kendouci reports as Rangers look to January

The news come after Michael Beale admitted that there is cash to spend on new players in January, if the right one becomes available for Rangers.

However, any Ibrox business could depend on the “vibe” the new Rangers boss gets off current players in the squad.

“There will be money available to recruit in January,” said Beale.

“I’ll be keen to do it if I don’t get the right vibe off one or two players in the squad right now.

“Without mentioning names, I have to get the right vibe off certain players. I have to know they’re still the boy that we recruited to come in.

“Because if they don’t want to be here, I don’t want them. And I don’t think the club does either. Have I got targets already? One or two but it’s more positional.”

One player who doesn’t seem to be on the club’s radar is Ahmed Kendouci and it’ll be interesting to see how Rangers act in the upcoming window.

Meanwhile, another Rangers star is reportedly on a list to replace one reported Ibrox target.
