Rangers may have just lost one star to the Premier League – but could main man Alfredo Morelos be set to join Nathan Patterson down south amid links to the likes of Everton?

According to one report, the Toffees are one of three Premier League clubs tailing the fiery Colombian this month – just after he’s got back into shape and form at Ibrox.

Under Giovanni van Bronckhorst the 25-year-old striker has netted six goals and laid on two assists in eight games and looks back to his boisterous El Bufalo best.

The exit reports originate in American outlet CBS Sports, who list Everton, Leicester City and Newcastle United as potential suitors for Rangers star Alfredo Morelos.

Newcastle, Everton and Leicester all linked to Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos

Having just signed a deal which could eventually reach £16m for Nathan Patterson, CBS Sports claim that any deal for Alfredo Morelos could cost Everton up to £20m ($26m).

However, they earmark the striker for a switch to Newcastle United, citing the Saudi-billionaire backed Toon’s “urgent” need to sign a striker in this transfer window.

Leicester City will also be well aware of Alfredo Morelos’ capabilities with manager Brendan Rodgers having faced off against the striker during his time with Celtic.

But according to Rangers media partner and club insider Heart & Hand, there has been no interest in Alfie as things stand.

“Zero notes of interest” in Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos

Whilst Heart & Hand host David Edgar doesn’t mention Everton, he does mention Newcastle United and Leicester and he confirmed that there has been no interest in Alfredo Morelos.

“I can’t speak for other clubs, but at the moment, and obviously things can change, that’s not true,” said David Edgar on the platform’s Daily Update (04/01/22), available to Patreon subscribers.

“There has been zero notes of interest at all in Alfredo. Clubs generally mention before they come in for a bid, they don’t come out of nowhere, and that hasn’t been the case here.

“Alfredo Morelos is undoubtedly the most settled he has been in his whole time at Rangers and it would be ironic if this was the window that he left.

“He’s bought a house, him and his young family are very settled, he likes working with Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Roy Makaay and you would’ve seen that in his upturn in form, so it doesn’t add up for me.”

Heart & Hand are reputable club partners so it’s safe to say if it’s coming out of those guys it generally rings true so as things stand Alfredo Morelos is going nowhere.

That said, Rangers are now in a position of strength following the transfer of Nathan Patterson to Everton and if anyone wants Alfredo Morelos, they can expect to shell out.

In other Rangers transfer news, the Ibrox club could be handed a boost by the news one team of transfer rivals appear to have turned their focus elsewhere.
