Rangers boss Michael Beale has revealed the club opted against signing a “very good player” after a transfer meeting earlier in the summer.
The Ibrox manager was left unconvinced after meeting with the unnamed target as he looks to revamp the Rangers squad this summer.

Michael Beale has already made six new transfer signings this summer, with the Ibrox manager also revealing that “one or two” of those summer moves have been long-term targets for the club.
Several of those signings have namedropped the talented English coach as being a big factor in their transfer to Rangers, with Michael Beale flying all over Europe to look any prospective new signings in the eye before making a final transfer decision.
And the Rangers boss has claimed that in his negotiations one player in particular failed to convince him that a move to Ibrox would be a good fit.
There was only one player I met who I felt was not a good fit,” said Beale.
“He was a very good player, but just not a good fit for us.
“You get in a room and you get a feeling about someone.
“Rangers has a very rich history, we play in front of packed crowds each week, a lot of the games are live on Sky and we have European football.
“There is a lot for players to be excited about. You just try to explain how you think they are going to fit into things.”
Rangers opt against transfer as Michael Beale pushes on
Michael Beale has now made eight signings for Rangers in total with Belgian-born Cremonese striker Cyriel Dessers the latest transfer into the club.
The 28-year-old striker joins January signings Todd Cantwell (Norwich City) and Nicolas Raskin (Standard Liege) at Ibrox, with the club also confirming the signings of Kieran Dowell (Norwich City), Dujon Sterling (Chelsea), Jack Butland (Crystal Palace), Sam Lammers (Atalanta) and Abdallah Sima (Brighton).
Rangers are also being heavily linked with Jonathan Panzo (Nottingham Forest) and Jose Cifuentes (LAFC) in what is shaping up to be a busy window at the club.

But there will be some conjecture surrounding which Rangers transfer target Michael Beale is talking about here with several other names linked to a summer move.
The obvious choice appears to be former Sunderland striker Josh Maja, who has just been released by Bordeaux and who has been the subject of extensive reporting in recent months amid rumours Beale met with the player earlier in the year.
However, the tight-lipped nature of Rangers transfer dealings means that it really could be anyone as Michael Beale looks to put his own stamp on the Ibrox squad this summer.
