Cyriel Dessers is finally hitting the headlines for Rangers for all the right reasons and giving Philippe Clement a welcome problem up front.
The Gers boss has brought in Fabio Silva to add more depth but it is the £4.5m summer signing that is having his name sung by the Ibrox faithful.
The squad is still light of numbers in attack but Cyriel Dessers is raising doubts over whether or not Rangers actually need another number nine, a point answered by Kenny Miller on Clyde Superscoreboard.

Cyriel Dessers given Rangers backing despite number nine calls
Former Light Blues striker Miller knows what it takes to lead the line under the scrutiny that the 29-year old is currently subject to and was quick to praise his current form.
When asked if Rangers need another striker to compete with or replace Cyriel Dessers, Miller was pragmatic in his response:
“I don’t think Rangers will sign a number nine in this transfer window.
“It’s not changed my view that I think Rangers need a striker.
“We see the performances on a Saturday, or a Tuesday or whatever day the games are, Philippe Clement’s working with this guy every single day.
“He sees what he’s capable of, there’s no doubt his goal scoring has, I mean, it’s actually been ok over his first six-months but it’s been decent over the last month or so.”
And, when asked if Dessers will be enough to win the title, he summarised by saying:
“I would have liked to have seen Rangers sign a number nine.”
To clarify, Miller also said that Rangers “could” win the league title with Cyriel Dessers as first choice but that there are more factors involved than that.
Miller is right.
In his current form, Dessers is on course for 20+ goals and 10+ assists.
Can you really ask for more?
These are the sort of numbers that Alfredo Morelos was getting at his peak never mind in a Rangers team that was barely creating chances for the first few months of the season.
With interest from Italy due to his recent resurgence under Philippe Clement, Rangers will have a decision to make as to whether or not they believe Cyriel Dessers is good enough.
If there is one thing we have learned about the big Belgian, is that he backs his players.
