If talk of a £5m bid from Everton attached to Rangers talent Nathan Patterson has manager Steven Gerrard chuckling, the £10m valuation of an ex-Celtic player at Goodison Park will have him bent double.
According to the Mirror, Rangers reportedly rejected the approach from the Toffees as interest in the Ibrox club’s biggest homegrown talent reaches the shores of the megabucks Premier League.

When pressed on it in the post-match, Gerrard simply told the reporter to “carry on with the jokes”.
“£5m, wow. Look, I’ve only just been told about this,” said Gerrard.
“It hasn’t been brought to my attention by anyone above me at the club. I’ll ask the question when I go back on the bus but if you’re going to talk about Nathan Patterson you need to get real.
“£5m is, I don’t know, that’s definitely come out of a joke book surely. I don’t make the decisions in terms of when the right numbers are hit.
“All the players have got a price, we’ve said this so many times. We want to keep all our best players, especially our homegrown and local ones.
“There’s a big future here for Nathan. He’s got to be patient and he’ll get game time and minutes.
“We’re delighted with him, he’s not someone we’re looking to move on but every single person has got a number. But let me tell you now, £5m is so far away it’s unreal.”
But the best was yet to come as a report in the Mirror claims that Everton want £10m for right-back Jonjoe Kenny, who failed to impress in a six month loan stint at Celtic Park last season.
Kenny, 24, is a former England youth international and Burnley are reportedly baulking at the asking price but remain keen in taking the player on loan.
But for Rangers fans, the notion Kenny could cost double the fee of Scotland international Patterson, 19, will be source of huge hilarity.
Kenny’s time at Celtic Park is most remembered for being utterly humiliated by Rangers winger Ryan Kent who left him for dead in the 4-1 Ibrox Old Firm victory last season.

It’s clear that if Everton are serious about interest in Nathan Patterson then they’ll need to stump up with Rangers desperate to keep a hold of the right-back.
But that might start by valuing him higher than their own players who’re surplus to requirements with a £10m price tag for Kenny probably the biggest laugh of it all.
Whilst Patterson might be staying put at Rangers, one player linked to join him has been spotted back in his current club’s colours this week.
