Rangers are in the market for a left-footed attacker – and that will only strengthen the idea of Morgan Whittaker heading to Ibrox this summer.
The Athletic report that Michael Beale would like to sign a left-footed attacking player this summer.
Rangers have options out wide in Ryan Kent, Todd Cantwell, Fashion Sakala, Scott Wright and Rabbi Matondo.
Yet all five of those players are right footed, as is Ianis Hagi, who could feasibly play in from the flanks.
That’s a real overload of right-footed players and Beale now wants to add some more balance in attack.
The game is full of wingers cutting inside now and Beale may well believe that adding a left-footed to move in from the right flank is ideal for Rangers.
Rangers notably tried to sign Manchester City’s Cole Palmer before the January transfer deadline and whilst he would fit the bill, we think this points towards Morgan Whittaker again.

Morgan Whittaker fits what Beale wants at Rangers
Beale landed two top targets in January as Nicolas Raskin and the aforementioned Cantwell arrived but Rangers didn’t secure Morgan Whittaker.
Beale made Swansea City ace Whittaker a key target after being impressed with his loan displays at Plymouth Argyle.
Wales Online claimed in January that Swansea rejected a bid from Rangers for Whittaker, which The Scottish Sun later reported was worth around £900,000.
Rangers increased their offer to around £1.5million according to The Daily Record, but Swansea stood firm and said no once again.
Rangers didn’t push to secure the deal before the transfer deadline and Whittaker is now stuck on the Swansea bench.
Whittaker fits the mould of what Beale is seeking; left footed, capable of playing on either flank, behind a striker or even up front.
That versatility would give Beale some tactical flexibility moving forward and Whittaker’s limited role at Swansea makes a summer deal seem possible.
Maybe Beale has other names in mind but Whittaker stands out as being the man to fit what Rangers want this summer.
