Patrick Bauer will not be coming to Rangers this summer.
The German centre-back has joined Preston North End on a free transfer.
The move took place less than an hour after we published a piece on his farewell message to Charlton Athletic.

At that stage, it looked as though the 26-year-old was up for grabs. It had been reported by the Daily Mail that Rangers, Hibs, and six EFL Championship clubs – Blackburn, QPR, Reading, Preston, Wigan, and Hull were all chasing his signature.
However, it appears that negotiations with Preston were already at an advanced stage when he confirmed his departure from the Valley on Tuesday evening.
“I am really excited to be here – I am happy to play finally in the Championship again and I am really delighted,” Bauer told Preston’s website. “I can’t wait to meet all my new team-mates, all the staff and management and get started.”
This news means that Steven Gerrard’s search for defensive reinforcements continues.
After the departures of Joe Worrall and Gareth McAuley, resources are stretched thin at the back.
Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic are the only two out-and-out senior centre-backs at the club. With the potential for another 60 game season coming up, you have to think at least two new additions are required over the coming weeks.
