Rangers appear to have missed out on signing Nottingham Forest defender Scott McKenna as he nears a shock move to FC Copenhagen.
Rangers fans would have loved to see another centre back arrive this month.
Ben Davies and John Souttar haven’t proven themselves as the long-term partner for Connor Goldson and Leon Balogun is merely a stop-gap at the back.
A natural left-footer to partner Goldson would have been ideal and Rangers appeared to have found an ideal target in Scott McKenna.
Reports earlier in January suggested that Rangers were very keen on bringing the £6million Nottingham Forest defender to Ibrox.
Homegrown, experienced in Scotland, left-footed, coming towards the end of his contract… McKenna seemed ideal for Rangers, but he is now heading elsewhere…
Rangers target Scott McKenna poised to sign for FC Copenhagen
The Telegraph’s John Percy now reports that McKenna is on the verge of signing for Danish side FC Copenhagen.
McKenna will now move to play Champions League football in the Danish capital having been frozen out at Forest.
BT in Denmark add that McKenna will be signing on loan, joining Copenhagen for the final few months of his Forest deal.
McKenna would then become a free agent and Copenhagen would be trying to secure a longer-term arrangement if he impresses.

That means the door could still be open for Rangers to pounce for McKenna on a free transfer at the end of the season.
It’s surprising to hear that Forest are willing loan McKenna out rather than cash in for a low fee this month.
The 27-year-old centre back could have been a bargain addition for Rangers but, having not made a league appearance since September, McKenna will now head to Denmark.
Maybe Rangers will wait until the summer to find a new defender, and we would imagine that there will be a close eye on McKenna’s progress in Denmark once his move goes through.
