Michael Beale is looking to sign a goalkeeper and admits Rangers have three or four targets in mind for the summer transfer window.

The Gers scraped past Partick Thistle in the Scottish Cup this afternoon, securing a narrow 3-2 win at Ibrox to book a place in the quarter-finals.

Beale continues to pick up wins but he is ultimately still learning about this Rangers squad and trying to make decisions ahead of the summer window.

Beale went with Allan McGregor as his goalkeeper against Partick Thistle, picking him ahead of Jon McLaughlin.

Rangers’ goalkeeping situation continues to be a source of confusion, especially in the long-term, but it looks like a signing will be arriving in the summer.

Michael Beale eyeing new goalkeeper for Rangers

Beale has now told the Daily Record that he wants to add a new goalkeeper at the end of the season.

This seems pretty sensible; McGregor is now 41 and backup Jon McLaughlin is 35, with neither really offering a long-term option for Rangers.

Beale suggests that three or four goalkeepers are now on the Rangers radar and they are being eyed up for moves to Ibrox at the end of the season.

“I’ll be looking for one that comes in to compete. We have a budget in mind and there are three or four goalkeepers that we’re looking at,” said Beale.

Beale of course didn’t name any names, but these comments come just as Rangers are linked with a deal for Angus Gunn.

The Sun claim that Rangers are interested in luring Norwich City stopper Gunn to Ibrox at the end of the season.

A deal worth around £3million is suggested with Gunn behind Tim Krul in the Norwich pecking order under David Wagner.

The 27-year-old has been a highly-rated goalkeeper over the years and can even play for Scotland if he chooses to do so in the future.

Gunn may well be one of the names on Beale’s radar, and there will be plenty of rumours surrounding the other names in the months to come.
