Rangers linked to talented Nigeria winger but there appears to be a catch

As Rangers fans react to reports surrounding Andreas Skov Olsen, the source of the latest claims surrounding the Bologna winger have also mentioned the Gers alongside Akinkunmi Amoo.

Rangers have been linked to Skov Olsen all January long and looked to be out of the race for the Club Brugge linked winger until Kasper Larsen had his say on Twitter.

The FC Copenhagen insider – the Danish club also being linked to the Denmark international – claimed that Rangers had stepped up their pursuit of Skov Olsen after an injury to Ianis Hagi.

LEAVE RASHFORD ALONE.

This then sent Rangers fans into a bit of an online frenzy as fans on Twitter and Gers forums began to get excited by the prospect of a Danish winger once again joining from Italy.

But whilst a Laudrup-esque plunge for Andreas Skov Olsen may be attractive to Rangers fans – despite reports he could cost up to £7.5m – Larsen has also linked Hammarby winger Akinkunmi Amooto Ibrox.

Amoo is also linked to FC Copenhagen and according to Larsen, is a potential Rangers target if things don’t go right with Andreas Skov Olsen.

“Rangers also look at 19-year-old (Akinkunmi) Amoo from Hammarby,” tweets Larsen.

Where this is relevant to the leading Danish fan media provider is in that Copenhagen have also been linked with a move for the 19-year-old Nigerian talent [News-Fox].

Rangers linked to Akinkunmi Amoo – but is there a catch?

However – and this is where things get interesting – talent though Amoo may well be, the Hammarby winger was one of four wingers named on that infamous Patrick Caskie list.

Stats analyst and Rangers fan Caskie had put forward a list of four wingers whom he believed could fit the bill in the Ibrox club’s search for someone on the right.

This was picked up inBulgarian media due to the mention of Kiril Despodov, before copy in Scotland began parroting the reports as genuine interest.

Perhaps Kasper Larsen has simply fell foul of these reports with Rangers fans yet to see anything that can’t be traced back to Patrick Caskie linking the club to Akinkunmi Amoo.

But as the transfer window so often proves, anything can happen and nothing should be ruled out.

Hammarby winger and Nigerian youth international Akinkunmi Amoo, 19, netted 13 goals and laid on five assists in 36 games for the Swedish club in their most recent footballing season.

Remarkably, the scouting report even made waves in Croatia where claims Rangers could move for another of the players on Caskie’s list were refuted earlier in the week.
