Rangers linked striker Kevin Nisbet is set to sign for Premiership club Hibernian, according to an Edinburgh Evening News report.

The 23-year-old forward was linked with the Gers over the course of last season.

In November, a Glasgow Times report claimed Rangers were ‘keeping tabs’ on Nisbet, leading to talk of a potential summer swoop.

The speculation seemed to inspire him on the pitch and he scored heavily for Dunfermline, racking up 23 goals in 32 appearances, including a burst of eight in four Championship fixtures in the lead up to Christmas.

It seems that wasn’t enough to convince the Gers to pounce but the player will still be earning a move to the top flight.

The Edinburgh Evening News piece claims the Hibees had an offer for Nisbet rejected by Dunfermline in January but he remained a key target ahead of this window and they will now land their man.

It’s suggested the former Partick Thistle and Raith Rovers forward has already completed a medical and that the deal could be announced in the coming days.

At present, Rangers have just two out and out senior strikers in Alfredo Morelos and Jermain Defoe but it’s reported that a loan offer has been made to Hibs for Florian Kamberi [Edinburgh Evening News].

The Edinburgh club’s move for Nisbet is further evidence that although Kamberi is back in training, he isn’t central to Jack Ross’ plans.
