Rangers have once again been strongly linked to Abdou Harroui in the press but that hasn’t stopped the Dutch U21 star from sharing a post relating to Celtic fans on his Instagram story.

The Ibrox club has been linked to Harroui throughout the summer with the Gers mentioned alongside the player in multiple reports as a Sparta Rotterdam director discussed the player’s future.

Sparta Rotterdam’s technical director Henk van Stee has revealed that the Dutch outfit has yet to receive a bid for the player as he enters the final year of his contract.

“Of course I do get lots of calls from intermediaries who say they are acting on behalf of clubs, but that is different from actual concrete interest,” said van Stee, as quoted by the Daily Record who believe the player is valued at £2m in the Netherlands.

“There is no offer yet. In fact, so far no club has come forward for Harroui.”

Rangers were first linked to Abdou Harroui by Football Insider during the U21 European Championships earlier in the summer.

But as interest hots up, interestingly Harroui has taken to Instagram to share an image of the Celtic support flying Palestinian flags at Parkhead during a Champions League playoff match against Israeli side Hapoel Beer-Sheva in 2016.

Harroui is of Moroccan descent, and this could very well be a coincidence with the player clearly having a political opinion on the situation in Palestine one way or another.

But whilst the player’s political opinion on the matter will mean little to the support, it’s the timing of the post which will have some Gers fans raising an eyebrow.

Perhaps Abdou hasn’t read about those links to Rangers but there’s every chance that he has.

As things stand Harrouri’s future is uncertain but at the height of links to Ibrox sharing images of the Celtic support isn’t exactly the best way to endear yourself to Gers fans, no matter the reasoning.

Not that these links have amounted to anything more than just speculation at present – a leading Dutch football expert even told Rangers News where he expects Harroui to end up next season.
