Rangers-linked Schalke goalkeeper Martin Fraisl has been opening up on his future amid reports linking him with a move to Ibrox and potentially replacing Allan McGregor.
Gers veteran Greegsy recently turned 40 and with his contract expiring at the end of the season there is much conjecture surrounding his future.
The Ibrox side have moved to sign up back-up goalie Jon McLaughlin on a two-year deal and whilst the Scotland international is a safe pair of hands, there’s been plenty of links elsewhere too.
Amongst them is Austrian stopper Martin Fraisl, with Rangers linked with a move for the 28-year-old alongside Premier League Norwich as his contract ticks down at Schalke [Daily Mail].
With Schalke sporting director Rouven Schroder claiming that talks would not be taking place in the near future, it appeared to open the door for a potential Rangers move.
But speaking to the press Martin Fraisl himself appeared relaxed about the situation and hinted that any future decision could rest on Bundesliga 2 side Schalke earning promotion.

“I feel very, very comfortable at Schalke and like the people in and around the club. I like the Schalke mentality a lot. I can certainly imagine a contract extension,” said Fraisl.
“In general, I have a clear career plan. I only ever speak publicly about my career path once I have achieved them.
“But when you play in the second division with Schalke, you can imagine what my next big goal is.
“I hope to play for Austria in the play-offs. We have a very good chance of qualifying. Wales, Scotland and Ukraine are all beatable.
“And if I am playing like this, I’ll definitely be there.”
Schalke currently sit 5th in a tight German second tier with our points separating the top six and Rangers could have an eye on the progress of Martin Fraisl as the season ticks down.
Rangers have their own horse in the race however and sent a German club with Ibrox links their best after a recent derby victory.
