Former Sheffield United midfielder John Lundstram is still without a club after his release from the relegated Premier League side amid earlier links to Rangers.
The Ibrox club was extensively linked to Lundstram, 27, in last summer’s transfer window after reports first appeared in the Athletic.

This was as Lundstram entered the final year of his contract at Bramall Lane with much speculation regarding his future throughout what proved to be a disappointing season for the Blades.
But after officially being released from his contract following the expiration of his previous deal, it’s all quiet on the Western front regarding the box-to-box midfielder.
Rangers have been linked to a range of midfield players ahead of the new season as they look to bolster their squad for an assault on Champions League qualification.
The signing of Lundstram – who had an impressive Premier League campaign in season 19/20 – would represent a quality addition who has played at a high level.
However, the midfielder has no European experience and as it stands is yet to sign a new deal at Rangers or anywhere else since leaving Sheffield United.
Yorkshire Live are the most recent outlet to credit the Gers with interest saying: “Rangers have been strongly linked with a free transfer as Lundstram’s contract in S2 is set to expire this summer”.
Despite his exit from the club, Blades boss Paul Heckingbottom paid tribute to the player’s professionalism in training as his contract began to tick down.
“One thing I’ll say about Lunny, and I want this on record, is that he’s been fantastic in training and he applies himself well,” said Heckingbottom [Sheffield Star].

“He’s found himself in a difficult situation. We’ll see how it pans out. But I want it on record that he’s been nothing other than totally professional ever since we came in.”
Whilst the situation surrounding Lundstram remains uncertain, a leading Dutch football journalist has been giving his verdict to Rangers News regarding a trio of Eredivisie links.
