As Rangers struggled to get a winner against stubborn Dundee United, the performance of Swiss stopper Benjamin Siegrist once again caught the eye.

One of the best keepers in the country outside of Ibrox, once again Benjamin Siegrist came up big for his side and made a couple of solid saves to earn his team a point at Tannadice.

The keeper stopped well from a Joe Aribo header from a corner before Fashion Sakala was hauled back and the abject refereeing team missed a clear penalty.

Benjamin Siegrist also saved superbly from Alfredo Morelos as he put his body on the line with the score still at 1-0 to the Arabs.

Whilst the Swiss stopper’s goal would eventually be breached by Joe Aribo – with the game eventually ending 1-1 – Siegrist stood up to all that was thrown a him.

Rangers actually need to take a closer look at themselves for a failure to properly test the goalkeeper in a match that saw the club create an abundance of opportunities.

Despite taking 29 shots in the match, only three of them were on target and it speaks volumes about the wastefulness in front of goal from Rangers against Dundee United.

But even though a fraction of Rangers’ efforts were on the Dundee United goal Benjamin Siegrist stood up to the challenge.

A talented goalkeeper who routinely stands out against both Rangers and Celtic, on a free contract the Gers could certainly do worse than the ex-Aston Villa stopper.

Rangers’ recruitment has also come under the microscope as fans question an injury to a major January acquisition.
