Rangers-linked Hertha Berlin striker Davie Selke is set to be released heading into the January transfer window after summer links to Ibrox.
That’s according to BILD, via Bulli News, in Germany, who are claiming that the 27-year-old striker is set to be released from his contract in the German capital amid a lack of game time in the Bundesliga.

So far this season, Davie Selke has started only one game for the club in the German top flight whilst his other nine appearances have come from the bench.
According to the report, Rangers were not the only club looking to snap up a deadline day move for the striker, with West Brom, FC Basel and FC Copenhagen also linked.
The story then suggests that Davie Selke wanted to hang around Hertha Berlin and fight for his place, but things haven’t quite worked out at the Olympiastadion.
Now, there could well be another chase on to sign the striker come January and Rangers may well be alerted given the reported interest from ordinarily reputable sources in Germany.
Rangers-linked Davie Selke to be released by Hertha Berlin?
Rangers opted to move for Antonio Colak in the summer and whilst the big Croatian has been a revelation this season, the other two strikers in the squad have struggled to make an impression.
Alfredo Morelos, working his way back from a long-term injury lay-off and a series of off-field issues, has been unconvincing since his return to the first-team.
Not to mention the fact his contract is up come the end of the season.
Kemar Roofe – who never made an appearance this season until coming on against Dundee in the League Cup in late October – is injured once again and cannot be relied on to be available.
That means signing another striker might make sense for Rangers as they look to compete on three fronts domestically and should Davie Selke become available he is an interesting option.
A good age and with good experience, there’s a reason why RB Leipzig once broke the Bundesliga 2 transfer record to sign the striker for £7m in 2015.
Meanwhile, Rangers’ European season hasn’t all been doom and gloom.
