Rangers have made a fast start to the transfer window, however, one long-term target who is unlikely to be joining is Jerry Yates.
The 26-year old Blackpool forward has been tipped for a move to the Light Blues for some time but the chances of him heading up the M6 appear slim now.
Sam Lammers arrival as a versatile playmaker and striker means that there is no longer space for Rangers-linked Jerry Yates.

With 14 goals for the season, Yates made a valiant effort to keep his side in the Championship and he certainly produces the sort of numbers that Michael Beale is looking for.
In comparison, Lammers might not have been as productive, but his experience of playing at a higher level throughout his career should be invaluable at Rangers.
Both players are the same age, however, with Blackpool already receiving a £2.5m bid for their star player, it’s easy to see why the Gers gaffer chose the Serie A forward instead.
Capable of playing on either flank, behind a central striker or through the middle, Michael Beale is obviously planning for both the Scottish Premiership and European football.

Against Celtic at Ibrox in the last Old Firm derby, we saw Rabbi Matondo and Fashion Sakala deployed in wide starting positions out of possession too.
It is an interesting debate in that there is no way of really knowing if a striker who is scoring goals at a lower level would be a better signing than one who isn’t but is playing in a top five league.
In the past, we’ve seen both arrive at Rangers with mixed results.
The analysis has to be focussed on the player as an individual and it would appear as if Sam Lammers ticks more boxes.
Michael Beale and the recruitment team can never win though.
Lammers is coming from Serie A with a solid CV and there is an element of the support that isn’t happy given his recent lack of goals.
On the flip side though, if Rangers signed a striker from Blackpool, the same dissenting voices will be equally as loud.
Get used to it because, unless you have a spare £10m to donate to the club, this is the market we are shopping in now.
