Rangers want Kevin Mantilla but face competition from Liverpool as well as Serie A side Torino for the Santa Fe prospect.

The Gers are being linked with players across the globe right now.

There have been links to players in Romania and Greece, and now one in Colombia too.

Football Insider reported last week that Rangers and Liverpool are both interested in signing Kevin Mantilla.

The 19-year-old centre back currently plays for Independiente Santa Fe over in his native Colombia.

Mantilla has only played 27 times for his club but has also racked up 15 caps for Colombia’s Under-20’s.

The future appears to be bright for Mantilla and he is already being eyed up for a move to Europe.

Rangers already have one Colombian ace in the ranks in Alfredo Morelos and may have to make it two by keeping the striker and then signing Mantilla.

Rangers face Torino battle for Kevin Mantilla

The problem for Rangers is that another club have joined the race to sign Mantilla.

Tuttomercatoweb report that Torino would like to bring Mantilla to Italy.

It’s noted that teams in Greece, Portugal and Italy want Mantilla and Torino are looking to make their move.

TMW also report that Liverpool are ready to put €4million (£3.5million) on the table for Mantilla in an attempt to secure a deal.

It’s doubtful that Mantilla would receive a work permit to play in England though and it may be that he would have to go out on loan if he joins the Reds.

That report compares Mantilla’s aggressive nature to that of Tottenham Hotspur defender Cristian Romero.

That’s an exciting comparison given Romero’s performances for Spurs and Rangers fans would surely love to see that kind of player arrive at Ibrox.

This looks like a tough transfer battle for Rangers at this point and beating Liverpool, Torino and a host of other clubs seems like a tough ask.
