Rangers are one of a number of clubs who’ve been mentioned alongside relegated Derby County forward and Welsh international Tom Lawrence.
The Rams captain had a valiant season in the Championship as Wayne Rooney’s side narrowly missed out on retaining their second tier status last season.
Amid serious financial issues at Pride Park and points deductions Derby County were always up against it but Tom Lawrence contributed with 11 Championship goals last season despite the relegation heartbreak.
A talented player who can play on either wing and has an eye for goal, it’d be a solid signing if Rangers pulled it off but there is plenty of competition for the player.
Rangers linked with move for Derby County captain Tom Lawrence
TEAMtalk are the outlet reporting both Rangers and Celtic are “keeping tabs” on the player but the story only mentions the Glasgow clubs halfway down the page.
Rangers and Celtic are only two of nine clubs mentioned alongside Tom Lawrence, with Premier League quartet Leeds United, Southampton, Bournemouth Fulham all mentioned as suitors.
Watford, West Brom and Nottingham Forest are named in the Championship and that would suggest that the 28-year-old could be moving out of Derby County as they look forward to a stint in League One next season.
Clubs in Turkey have also been linked to the attacker.
Starting his career with Manchester United, Tom Lawrence made one Premier League appearance at the club amid a series of loan moves.
Having moved to Leicester City it was a similar story and in 2017 the winger moved to Derby County, where he been a stand-out for the last five seasons.
But for all intents and purposes League One looks a level below the 23-times capped Wales international and Rangers fans will now be keeping an eye on the movements of Tom Lawrence this summer.
Lawrence isn’t the only English lower league player Rangers are said to be battling Premier League clubs to sign ahead of the summer window.
