On Tuesday afternoon, Jak Alnwick’s loan extension at Scunthorpe United was confirmed.
The former England youth international joined the Gers from Port Vale in January 2017, for a fee in the region of £261K, according to Transfermarkt.
Since then, though, he has made just six league appearances.

Initially, he found himself as backup to Wes Foderingham.
However, when Allan McGregor arrived in the summer, both those keepers were shunted down the pecking order.
Rather than hanging around as third choice, Alnwick secured a loan move to Scunthorpe.
While he has been first choice throughout the season, it hasn’t always went to plan.
By the end of December, the Iron had a dreadful defensive record and found themselves in the League One relegation zone.
Since then, though, fortunes have changed remarkably.
Some outstanding performances from the 25-year-old of late have culminated in three clean sheets and have assisted a charge up the table.

He had been due to return to Rangers earlier this month. However, he stayed with his adopted side while Gerrard’s squad jetted off to Tenerife.
Since they have returned, there has been continued uncertainty over his future.
With the deal now confirmed, Scunthorpe fans were delighted.

Furthermore, when the news was announced through Rangers’ official account, some Gers fans also had supportive messages for Alnwick.
