Rangers insiders Heart & Hand have shot down the suggestion that James McAtee “rejected” a move to Ibrox as the player remains at Manchester City.
Taking to Twitter, the popular Rangers fan media claim that manager Pep Guardiola wants to keep the 19-year-old midfielder at the club amid interest from a range of clubs.
Heart & Hand also compared the situation to that of midfielder to Phil Foden, for whom Rangers launched a bid whilst under the management of Steven Gerrard in 2019.
“James McAtee didn’t reject a loan move to Rangers,” tweet Heart & Hand.
“Rangers are in a long line of admirers for the player unfortunately headed by Pep Guardiola who has told him he is staying at Manchester City.
“We enquired about Foden in 2019 but same thing. Pep brings players through to play if they’re good enough. Great for City but a shame for us!”
The move comes amid a flurry of interest in Manchester City wonderkid James McAtee with a whole host of clubs all interested alongside Rangers.
The Gers were linked to the attacking midfielder earlier in the week with Telegraph journalist James Ducker listing a host of clubs interested in taking the player.
Rangers move for Aaron Ramsey amid James McAtee links
The news comes as Rangers close in on a deal for Juventus midfielder Aaron Ramsey, who has been snapped outside Ibrox as the deal enters its final stages.
Rangers are reportedly set to close in on a loan-to-buy move for the Welsh international as the 31-year-old makes an eye-catching move to the Scottish Premiership.
It’s a hugely exciting move for Rangers fans and the club’s supporters are eager to see what the midfielder can bring to the club.
Rangers fans might be celebrating the deal, but spare a thought for our Old Firm rivals who’ve been left kidding themselves on.
