Rangers insiders and leading fan media Heart & Hand have rejected the suggestion the Ibrox side are readying a move for Man United winger and former loanee Amad Diallo.

Diallo, 19, spent the second half of last season on loan at Ibrox and eventually began to settle in Glasgow after a rocky start with the club.

It had plenty suggesting that perhaps Ibrox was the best place for him for another season as he hopes to make the breakthrough at first-team level following a £19m move to Old Trafford 18 months ago [BBC Sport].

The player himself even sparked rumours of a potential return when he shared an image of himself in a Rangers jersey earlier in the summer.

All the talk was then intensified this week when a Daily Mail journalist claimed Rangers had started “preliminary talks” with Man United regarding another Amad Diallo loan move.

David Kent had claimed that Rangers were exploring other options in the final third, and that nothing was “concrete” but that the Ibrox side had launched a bid.

But now popular Rangers fan media outlet Heart & Hand have rubbished these claims, at least for the time being.

Taking to Twitter, the podcast’s main account, ran by host David Edgar, claimed that the winger is not “currently” on the club’s radar.

The use of the word “currently” is certainly important here and suggests that Amad Diallo remains in the minds of the Rangers hierarchy heading into this season.

But the Ivorian international winger is back at Man United as the Erik ten Hag revolution gets underway and he is tasked with leaving an impression on the Dutch coach.

Rangers too have issues in the right-wing position with the club’s fans believing an out-and-out starter is needed in the position and Ianis Hagi now ruled out until after the World Cup.

Could the club be waiting to see how their pursuit of a Bundesliga club player turns out amid reports they are set to pip Old Firm rivals Celtic?
