McCann is currently the interim manager of Inverness Caledonian Thistle and 17-year-old Lyall has headed to the Highlands on loan until the end of the season.

Lyall has shown an eye for goal at age-group level with Rangers and is heading out for his first taste of competitive senior football.

“We’re delighted to bring Aaron into the squad and thank Rangers for their help with getting the loan agreement until the end of the season,” said McCann [ICTFC.com].

“Aaron is an exciting young player and while he may not be seen as a starter, him coming in helps us boost the squad on either of the wings, which is an area we are currently light in due to injuries and an intense run of fixtures.”

It’s the second time a young Ger has headed to Caley Thistle this season, with Kai Kennedy spending the first half of the campaign there before switching to fellow second-tier club Raith Rovers in January.

This is the first time McCann has used his Ibrox connections to help secure a transfer though, as he only took charge late last month after John Robertson was granted compassionate leave.

Inverness are currently fifth in the Championship table and only three points outside the playoff places, although fourth-placed Dundee hold a game in hand.

After a difficult start to his time in the role, McCann is now getting a tune of out his players, with the club taking seven points from their last three matches and recording three consecutive clean sheets.

Meanwhile, Rangers’ trophy day has been confirmed after the post-split fixtures were announced.
