A report in Turkey suggests Rangers are continuing interest in Martin Skrtel.
Asist Analiz claims that the Gers and Olympiacos are both chasing the signature of the Fenerbahce centre-back.

The 34-year-old’s contract is expiring and an extension with the Turkish giants is yet to be agreed.
It’s claimed a 1.5 million Euro deal is on the table, but the player wants something closer to 4 million.
Skrtel is a former teammate of Steven Gerrard’s at Liverpool, but initial attempts to bring him to Ibrox earlier in the season were unsuccessful [

The report claims both the Gers and Olympiacos will need to improve their offers to have any chance of landing him.
Meanwhile, Skrtel is set for talks over his future with Fenerbache President, Ali Hoc, this week.

Verdict

With 103 caps for Slovakia and over 200 Premier League appearances for Liverpool, Skrtel certainly has plenty of pedigree.
The Gers are in need of reinforcements at centre-back, too. With Joe Worrall heading back to Nottingham Forest and Gareth McAuley’s contract expiring, Gerrard will soon only have two central defenders.
However, given the wage demands quoted here, an Ibrox move is unlikely.
If a contract extension was possible in Turkey, it would seem an unnecessary risk for the 34-year-old to up sticks and move to a new league. Especially, if it were likely to involve a big pay cut.
Steven Gerrard is undoubtedly a big pull, but surely even he won’t be enough to outweigh these other factors.
