Michael Beale claims Rangers have a “specific” transfer target in the number 9 position – but the Ibrox side may need to wait until the summer to sign him.

The Gers boss was clear over the weekend that the club are looking to add another forward but so far there have been few names that have popped up in the press.

The mystery continued as the January transfer window rolls to a close with Michael Beale claiming Rangers have a specific target in the position but failing to name names.

This comes with Alfredo Morelos out of contract in the summer and Kemar Roofe suffering continuing injury problems, with Antonio Colak also just returning to the squad after a lay-off.

Michael Beale update reveals Rangers have eye on “specific” striker

“I’d like to bring another No 9 into the building that is different to what we’ve got,” said Michael Beale in a recent Rangers transfer update before the midweek clash with Hearts [Rangers].

“My eyes are on that and I’ve got my target but he’s probably not available right now. He will be in the summer. I don’t want to give you names because everyone else might start liking him.

“I have my eye on a very specific name for the summer and hopefully we’ll be able to do that.”

The Rangers boss has also confirmed the club’s interest in Standard Liege midfielder Nicolas Raskin, with intensifying reports surrounding the Belgian international midfielder.

Rangers have already added Norwich City midfielder Todd Cantwell to the ranks this January and all eyes are on the next few days as fans await the next transfer update from Michael Beale.

Whilst the striker position may need to wait until the summer, Rangers do appear to be on the hunt for a central defender.
