Joel Piroe opens door to summer exit
Rangers have been given a boost to sign Piroe, with the Dutch attacker leaving the door open for a summer exit.
While the 26-year-old admitted that he wants to prove himself in the Premier League, he has also admitted that things may be different if he does not get the required first-team opportunities.
Piroe was a regular for the Whites in the Championship, but was on the fringes following their promotion to the top flight.
Last season, he played just 16 games in the Premier League, spending only 246 minutes on the pitch, without finding the back of the net.

Discussing his future, he told Flashscore: “I just want to prove myself with Leeds in the Premier League. I had a little bit of the feeling that I didn’t want to run away from the challenge [in the winter transfer window].
“If the start is not going as I want it to, then after just half a season to run away from it, that didn’t feel right as well. I thought, ‘Why run away after half a season when you have not experienced a full season in the Premier League?’ I still see my future there.
“Of course, when pre-season starts, I will see and feel a bit more about what the club thinks as well. But for now, I just want to present myself in a way where I can show these are the steps I’ve made in comparison to last season. And if it’s good enough and I get the chances, then I will be really happy.
“And if it’s not the case, then we will see what will happen.”
Is Piroe a priority target for Rangers?
Piroe likes playing centrally and can be deployed in the number 10 role behind the striker under Derek McInnes.
However, it is unlikely that the Light Blues prioritise his signing ahead of wide attackers, as that is the need of the hour.
If Youssef Chermiti is to leave, then the club could explore their options, but as things stand, their funds are likely to be allocated elsewhere.
