Plenty of Rangers fans are urging their club to consider a transfer swoop for an impressive Hearts player.
Steven Gerrard has a decent range of options in midfield right now, with Glen Kamara, Steven Davis, Joe Aribo, Scott Arfield, John Lundstram, Juninho Bacuna and Stephen Kelly all available, while Ryan Jack and Nnamdi Oforborh are also on the books but are currently sidelined.
Davis and Arfield can’t go on forever, though, while Kamara and Aribo are likely to attract interest in future windows.
Therefore, there could be room for a new addition in the engine room before long.
Some Bears were disappointed that the Gers didn’t snap up Ali McCann from St Johnstone in the latest window, with the 21-year-old instead signing for Preston North End in a bargain deal.
However, a potential new Ibrox transfer candidate has emerged in Beni Baningime of Hearts.
The Jambos signed the DR Congo-born midfielder for a nominal fee from Premier League outfit Everton in July on a three-year deal and he’s already made a big impact at Tynecastle.
The two-time U21 Premier League champion has played every minute of the capital club’s opening five Premiership matches, while he also played the full 90 minutes of their 3-2 Premier Sports Cup defeat to Celtic in mid-August.
At 23, he’s not yet the finished article, but he’s impressed with his confidence in possession, vision and strong positional awareness.
On Sunday, he was a standout performer in a relatively drab 0-0 with Hibernian in the first Edinburgh derby of the season and plenty of Rangers fans who watched the game suggested he may have the ability to make it at Ibrox.
Here’s a selection of reactions from Twitter:

He’s definitely our type of midfielder. Loves the ball, looks after it so well.
