Rangers fans are still waiting for movement on a potential deal for Juan Alegria which had looked to be sewn up ahead of the January transfer window.
Back in December 2020, the Daily Record claimed that the Gers had been watching Alegria for a full year and that he was closing in on a switch to Ibrox from Finnish club FC Honka.
Rangers fans got very excited about the potential new arrival after seeing footage of him scoring five goals in a single game for Colombia U20s against the Czech Republic.
However, the January window came and went without an announcement and the trail appears to have gone cold.
Alegria has barely been mentioned in recent months and he continues to play for Honka in the Veikkausliiga, with their 2021 season only getting underway in late April.
It’s been an underwhelming start to the league campaign for the 19-year-old, too, as he’s failed to score and has only been used as a substitute.
In fact, he’s currently serving a suspension after being given a straight red card during a 1-0 defeat to SJK last month, despite only coming on in the 85th minute.
Whether Rangers had work permit issues or pulled out of a deal at the last minute is unclear but for now, at least, it looks as though Bears will have to be content with having one Colombian striker at Ibrox.
