Rangers fans are split on the return of Glenn Middleton to Ibrox following the termination of a loan spell with Hibernian.

Hibs announced the 19-year-old’s stay in Edinburgh was over on Friday afternoon [Hibernianfc.co.uk], while he was snapped back training with the Gers the same day.

It’s not an overly surprising development considering his recent struggle for game time at Easter Road.

The pacey young winger hadn’t been selected for a matchday squad since Paul Heckingbottom’s departure, last turning out in a Premiership fixture against Livingston in October.

His return to Rangers bolsters the club’s options in wide areas, adding to Ryan Kent, Sheyi Ojo, Brandon Barker and Jamie Murphy.

It seems that some supporters are excited about his return. With the exception of Kent, the out-and-out Gers’ wingers have struggled to contribute, while Middleton has shown promise in the past, impressing at times over the first half of the 2018/19 campaign before falling out of favour.

However, others are not so sure.

The opposition argument is that if the teenager can’t get a game for Hibs, how will he make a difference for a team chasing the title?
