Rangers fans have urged the club to drop their reported interest in former Stoke City and West Brom striker, Saido Berahino.

The Gers have been linked with the 26-year-old twice this month, initially by TEAMtalk and then, on Wednesday morning, by Voetbal Nieuws.

It was suggested by the latter outlet that after the Gers agreed a deal to sign Ianis Hagi from Genk, they could look to bring in more players from Belgium with both Berahino and Royal Antwerp winger Manuel Benson on their radar.

Berahino enjoyed a relatively productive first season in Belgium scoring eight goals and registering three assists in 22 matches for Zulte Waregem.

Those are hardly mindblowing numbers, though, and his stint in Belgium follows a very unsuccessful time at Stoke City.

The Potters paid an eight-figure fee to sign the Burundi international, but he scored just five times in 56 appearances, failing to net at all in the season they were relegated from the Premier League.

The striker’s attitude has been called into question on various occasions, while he has also found himself in hot water for various off-field misdemeanours with his latest offence coming as recently as 2019.

All that baggage has prompted plenty of Gers fans to urge the club not to pursue the player when the summer transfer window opens.
