Rangers fans have reacted to reports claiming that both Greg Docherty and Jamie Murphy are primed for loan moves to England.

The Scottish Sun reports that Docherty is set to join Sunderland on a deal to the end of the season, while STV reports that Murphy is also headed for EFL League One in a similar deal with Burton Albion.

The moves are geared at getting both players game time, in a response to them falling down the pecking order at Ibrox.

Docherty has made just five appearances for the first team this season, and none since August when he turned out against East Fife in the League Cup.

He has experience in the English third-tier, having spent the 2018/19 campaign on loan at Shrewsbury Town, where he picked up the Player of the Year award.

Murphy has had even less playing time. He’s yet to start a competitive game for the Gers since sustaining a serious knee injury in August 2018 and has made just two substitute appearances this season.

He has plenty of experience in England having previously played for Sheffield United and Brighton, and although Burton are a much smaller club, he’ll likely just be hoping for an opportunity to prove his fitness by playing week in, week out.

There was a sense of inevitability about both players’ departures this month, but the prospective moves have had a mixed reaction amongst Bears on social media.
