Rangers fans have responded to a report which claims that loanee Andy King has returned to his parent club Leicester City.

Sky Sports claimed on Sunday afternoon that King’s season-long stint had been cut short, following a lack of playing time at Ibrox.

The 31-year-old was brought in by Steven Gerrard in August, to ensure that the Gers boss had an extra option in midfield.

However, while he was used occasionally as a substitute over his first two months in Glasgow, he didn’t manage to make a single start and he hadn’t been seen at all since late September.

It’s a testament to the performances of the rest of the club’s midfielders that King wasn’t able to get a look in.

When the club snapped up a Premier League winner with 50 international caps, it was assumed he’d be involved at least semi-regularly.

However, Messrs Jack, Davis, Kamara, Aribo and Arfield have ensured Gers fans saw next to nothing of him.

King now returns to Leicester, the club to whom he’s been contracted for his entire professional career, and is now free to seek out an alternative loan move for the second half of the season, as he’s unlikely to find a way into Brendan Rodgers’ plans.
