On Monday, Liam Burt confirmed he will leave the club at the end of the season.
The 20-year-old midfielder is yet another graduate of the club’s youth academy that’s currently flourishing.

He made his senior debut in a Scottish Championship fixture against Alloa, back in 2015/16.
Since then, though, only two league appearances have followed.
As with so many young players, loan stints away from Ibrox have been used in an attempt to gain experience. Firstly at Dumbarton, before a spell at Alloa Athletic this season.

With his contract set to expire soon, it seems Rangers haven’t been impressed enough to offer him an extension.
Therefore, he posted a farewell message on Twitter.

It’s always sad to see a young homegrown talent moved on from the club. However, unfortunately, that’s just the way it is.
Rangers need to trim down their very large squad ahead of next season. With Burt’s lack of first-team outings, his departure is hardly surprising. Particularly given the options Gerrard now has at his disposal in midfield.
Going forward, though, time is on his side. Let’s hope he gets snapped up this summer and is plying his trade at a decent level next season.

There was an outpouring of support from Bears in response to the tweet. Here’s a selection of responses:
