Tuesday morning’s big transfer report hasn’t gone down well on social media.

The Belfast Telegraph claims that Rangers are ‘in talks’ to sign Josh Magennis. The 28-year-old forward is currently at Bolton Wanderers, but they are experiencing considerable financial difficulties.

Therefore, it’s suggested that despite having a year left on his contract, he could be allowed to leave either for free or for a minor fee.

We know Rangers love a free transfer these days.

The club recently picked up the likes of Steven Davis and Jordan Jones for nothing.

However, while an international teammate of both those players with Northern Ireland, Magennis isn’t of the same quality.

He’s capable of making an impact off the bench. By netting consecutive Euro 2020 Qualifying winners against Belarus and Estonia, he proved that.

Yet, his main attributes are his physicality and work-rate. He only mustered four goals in over 40 appearances in the Championship last season [WhoScored] and 18 in over 70 SPL games for former club Kilmarnock [Soccerbase].

You need more quality to make it at Ibrox, particularly now the club is finally back with a realistic chance of the SPL title.

Therefore, plenty of Rangers fans have raged at the suggestion of signing the 6ft 2″ target man.

Here’s a selection of publishable reactions to the transfer report:
