Rangers fans have laughed off a claim made by a Brazilian journalist about the Gers’ valuation of Alfredo Morelos.

Speculation has started to ramp up around the Colombian international, who has impressed in both domestic and European competition over the past few seasons.

On Friday, Brazilian journalist Bruno Andrade claimed that Rangers hope to sell Morelos for around €12m (£10.3m) amid interest from Porto, having already rejected a bid of €8m (£6.9m) from Serie A side Cagliari.

Unsurprisingly, Andrade’s claim regarding Morelos’ valuation didn’t go down well, with previous reports and comments showing it to be well wide of the mark.

Back in March 2019, Gers managing director Stewart Robertson asserted that the club values Morelos the same as former Celtic striker Moussa Dembele, who left Parkhead for £20m in 2018 [Scottish Sun].

Then, last summer, Rangers reportedly turned down a £16.25m bid from Lille for the 24-year-old [Daily Mail], while a recent A Bola report (via Sport Witness) made it clear that a bid of around €20m would be required to tempt the champions of Scotland into selling.

Here’s a selection of reactions from Bears to Andrade’s claim:
