Rangers fans are raising a few eyebrows regarding links to Cho Gue-sung as the reported £20m Celtic man Josip Juranovic readies a Serie A loan-to-buy switch to Italian outfit Monza.

Reports in the Scottish media had suggested that Croatian international Juranovic was set to bank our Old Firm rivals a fortune after impressing at the Qatar World Cup.

Robert Grieve of the Scottish Sun claimed that Barcelona were set to test the Parkhead club’s resolve with a bid, rating Josip Juranovic £20m in the process.

There were even links to the likes of Chelsea in the Daily Mail, although outside of Scotland the price tag was a slightly less ambitious £8m.

However, amid links to Europe’s elite it actually looks like a switch to Monza is nearing for the Celtic right-back as Juranovic prepares a switch to Italy on an initial loan which could see the Serie A side pay £7m in the summer [Daily Mail].

But whilst the price tag attached to the Celtic full-back was suspicious enough for Rangers fans, it’s links to South Korea which have raised eyebrows in the aftermath.

Despite Celtic being believed to be closer down the line regarding a potential deal for South Korean striker Cho Gue-sung, Rangers have been named as a potentially interested party.

Celtic are said to have lodged a £3m bid for the player and there is talk from the likes of Alan Nixon and Football Scotland which claims Rangers are looking to battle it out with the Parkhead side.

But after Celtic fans were left disappointed with the situation surrounding Josip Juranovic, some Rangers fans are thinking that maybe those links to Cho Gue-sung are acting as a buffer.

Far be it for us to dispel any reporting regarding the South Korean star – especially as we can’t confirm or deny Rangers’ interest – but the timing has genuinely caught some fans by surprise.

The ridiculous transfer tags attached to Josip Juranovic stand as a testament to Celtic successfully using the press to their own ends and Rangers fans are suspicious of the late links to Cho Gue-sung.

The headlines write themselves should Celtic complete the move and plenty are not convinced.

All will become clear as the striker decides his future, or by the next time the press speak to Michael Beale, but as Juranovic’s Celtic exit prepares to underwhelm, Rangers fans aren’t buying into the Cho Gue-sung links just yet.

Meanwhile, Rangers’ first signing of the Michael Beale era appears imminent.
