It’s Deadline Day in Scotland and elsewhere in Europe, including for English League One and Two clubs.
Following Sunday’s defeat to Celtic, Steven Gerrard told RangersTV that the club would be trying to seal exits for multiple players, although last-minute arrivals would be unlikely.
Let’s have a look at the players who could leave today.
Jake Hastie
The 20-year-old winger arrived from Motherwell at the start of the season but has only mustered two first-team appearances. Rotherham United’s manager Paul Warne said on Saturday that he hoped a loan move could be organised before the deadline [Yorkshire Post], while Football Insider report this morning that a medical has been completed. This one looks imminent.
Jamie Barjonas
The young midfielder was involved in pre-season but competition for places in midfield has seen him drop out of the first-team reckonings. The Scottish Sun reports that League Two sides Macclesfield and Mansfield Town are vying for his signature. The Mansfield and Ashfield Chad suggested this morning that it’s a deal that could be done before the window shuts.

Jamie Murphy
Gerrard tipped the 30-year-old for a loan exit earlier in the window [Daily Record], but it would be a big surprise if he left today. With Hastie set to head to Rotherham and Jordan Jones appearing to pick up an injury against Celtic, Murphy is needed as cover.
Frozen out first-teamers
There’s still hope that some of Graham Dorrans, Eros Grezda, Jason Holt and Joe Dodoo will secure moves today. None of these players are in the first team plans, but they are all contracted and will be collecting wages. Holt was linked with a loan move to St Johnstone last week [Scottish Sun], so perhaps he is the most likely to head elsewhere.

Gerrard on Phil Foden
A Sunday Mirror (1/9; page 73) report emerged yesterday claiming that Steven Gerrard had attempted to lure Phil Foden to Rangers this summer, only to be blocked by Manchester City. Following the Old Firm, Gerrard addressed that speculation: “I don’t think Pep will let him go anywhere,” said the manager, as captured by Sky Sports. It doesn’t look as though there’ll be a second Premier League winner joining Andy King.
Ryan Kent return
The manager reiterated his interest in Kent this weekend but stressed that as of then, Liverpool’s stance hadn’t changed [Daily Record]. As the hours go by, it looks less and less likely that Kent will return to Ibrox.

Alfredo Morelos stays
In a significant boost for the club, Alfredo Morelos looks to be staying put in Glasgow. The Scotsman reports that after suggested suitors Galatasaray instead plucked for Falcao and Florin Andone, there’s now no realistic chance of him leaving.
