Rangers Covid breacher secures move to English Championship - report

Rangers Academy goalkeeper Brian Kinnear has secured a move to English Championship Birmingham City just months after a high-profile Covid-19 breach threatened to derail his career.

The talented stopper, 20, was one of five Gers players who breached rules to attend a house party in Glasgow’s west end back in February.

Alongside fellow Gers kid Dapo Mebude and first-team trio Nathan Patterson, Calvin Bassey and Bongani Zungu, all five were eventually hammered with six-game SFA bans for their conduct.

Rangers opposed this decision vehemently and completely forgave the quintet but Kinnear will be offered no true chance of redemption as he prepares to move down south.

That’s according to the Daily Record and Scott Burns, who’re running a story regarding the Scotland youth international keeper’s proposed move to St. Andrews.

This comes after Kinnear spent a period on trial with Lee Bowyer’s side and any deal suggests that there’s more than enough talent to the boy that the Blues would take the plunge.

Young goalkeeper Brian Kinnear has never played a first-team game for Rangers and has spent the second half of the season on loan at Annan Athletic in Scottish League Two.

The keeper only managed two matches for the club since his move and now looks set to move on from Scotland completely this summer when his contract expires at Auchenhowie.

Kinnear would become the third member of the Covid Five to leave Ibrox, following Bongani Zungu – who returns to Amiens – and Dapo Mebude – who has been released – out of the door.

Whilst the situation surrounding loanee Zungu was predictable, what exactly went wrong for the once highly rated Dapo Mebude at Ibrox?
