Rangers could still swoop for Thomas Robert as the highly-rated attacking midfielder’s proposed Celtic switch is reportedly in doubt [Daily Record].
The Gers were one of several clubs reportedly interested in the 20-year-old Frenchman, who delivered a series of impressive early-season displays for Airdrieonians in SPFL League One [Scottish Sun].

However, the Ibrox links died down after the third tier was suspended in January and Celtic took Robert on trial earlier this month.
It looked likely that that would be that, but according to the Daily Record, there are now doubts regarding the proposed transfer.
That’s because Celtic allegedly won’t put a deal on the table until a new manager and director of football have been appointed.
It could be months before those two positions are filled and the report suggests that both Aberdeen and Dundee United are considering stepping in to beat the delaying Hoops to the player.
If the Dons and the Terrors both have a chance, then so would the Gers, should they decide to re-enter the race.

The player suggested earlier in the season that a move to either Ibrox or Parkhead would be a ‘dream’ [Daily Record] and while a Gers source distanced the club from Robert during the January window [Glasgow Times], various outlets have reported interest from as early as May last year [Chronicle Live].
The recent return of League One action means Gers scouts will have an opportunity to watch the former Montpellier starlet again and if he catches the eye in the coming weeks, it seems very much like a swoop would still be possible.
Meanwhile, a promising teenager who was recently spotted in Rangers first-team training has signed a new contract with the club.
