Rangers have been linked with a move for St Johnstone goalkeeper Zander Clark as the Ibrox club potentially prepare for life without veteran stopper and club legend Allan McGregor.
That’s according to the Daily Record, who claim the boyhood bluenose is on the Ibrox club’s radar with the 29-year-old’s contract running down at McDiarmid Park.

Clark – who is in Steve Clarke’s Scotland squad for the upcoming Word Cup Qualifiers against Moldova and Denmark – is available on a pre-contract deal come January.
The Record are claiming that the Gers are keeping tabs on the goalkeeper with Allan McGregor’s future at Ibrox uncertain as things currently stand.
The legendary Ibrox goalkeeper is out of contract come the end of the season and it remains unclear if McGregor – who will be 40 when his current deal ends – will sign on for another season.
If the Ibrox stopper doesn’t, then it’s very likely that McGregor will hang up his playing gloves once and for all.
In this scenario Rangers would be left with back-up stopper Jon McLaughlin and Ibrox Academy prospect Robby McCrorie.
Both are certainly capable goalkeepers but the jury remains out on whether either could fill the gargantuan void left by McGregor and the spot will certainly be up for grabs.
Could St Johnstone stopper Zander Clark fill Allan McGregor void?
Clark – who has consistently performed at a high-level for Saints over the last couple of seasons – is amongst the most revered stoppers in the league and a childhood Rangers fan to boot.
Rangers fans are also well familiar with Zander Clark after his heroics in the Scottish Cup last season at Ibrox which saw the keeper involved in an injury time equaliser and a victorious penalty shoot-out.

Clark also played a vital role in St Johnstone’s legendary League Cup and Scottish Cup double last season and for many, is the Premiership side’s biggest asset.
The Record claim that a number of English Championship and League sides are also interested in the keeper whilst St Johnstone are eager to sign him up on a new contract.
Meanwhile, Rangers have signed up a youth talent who has links to tennis superstar Sir Andy Murray on a new deal at Ibrox.
