Rangers are close to agreeing personal terms with exciting Zambia international Fashion Sakala, according to the Daily Record.
The Gers have been linked with Sakala, who plays for KV Oostende in the Belgian First Division, for months.
The Sun reported in February that they were favourites to land the 24-year-old ahead of a number of English clubs but links died down until Voetbal claimed last week that he favours a switch to Ibrox.
It’s asserted that positive talks have been held and that a four-year contract is set to be offered to Sakala, with the deal expected to progress this week.
If all goes according to plan, a pre-contract agreement would then be announced.
It’s stated that the pacy forward has received more lucrative offers from clubs in the Middle East and mainland Europe, but that he wants to play Champions League football at Ibrox under Steven Gerrard.
Rangers won’t have to pay a transfer fee to bring Sakala to Glasgow, as his KVO contract expires at the end of the season.
In a possible hint that the player is Ibrox-bound, he recently followed a number of Gers stars on Instagram, including Borna Barisic, James Tavernier, Joe Aribo and Kemar Roofe.
He has scored 13 goals and registered three assists from 29 league appearances this season, but has struggled with niggles and a lack of form in recent months, with his last strike coming in early February.
The Zambia star could well be seen as a replacement for Jermain Defoe, whose Ibrox contract is up in the summer.
However, he’s not the only striker Rangers have been linked with and another reported target netted his 31st goal of the season at the weekend.
