Rangers chiefs will be delighted as Tromso have all but confirmed that Jens Hjerto-Dahl will leave this summer.

While Cardiff City have entered the race, the Light Blues know what they need to do in order to sign the 20-year-old midfielder.

Rangers are ready to make another bid for Hjerto-Dahl in the hope that it will be enough to bring him to Ibrox.

Lars Petter Kraemer-Andressen opens the door for Jens Hjerto-Dahl to leave

Tromso’s sporting director, Lars Petter Kraemer-Andressen, is doing what every chief does during a transfer saga where he knows the player will be leaving.

He is trying to get as much money as possible, and if that means sparking a bidding war, then so be it.

It has been clear for a while that Hjerto-Dahl fancies a move to Rangers, but his club are playing hardball.

Kraemer-Andressen has confirmed negotiations have been ongoing, but admits that there are multiple clubs interested.

What is your reaction to the new third kit?

It's fair to say a lot of Rangers fans have hated it…

This is a classic tactic to get the Light Blues to pay up, but they know that they have the player’s backing, and the deal should go ahead once the two clubs agree on a fee.

The Tromso chief said: “There have been negotiations over the past week. We’ll see what happens, it could take a while. Several clubs are interested, but a lot has to fall into place for something to happen.

“If he’s going to move on, it has to be a club Jens wants to go to and we also have pretty high expectations for the price.

“So it’s not certain he’ll leave. But if he does, we have a lot of good players, so we won’t be much worse off if Jens disappears. Then we’ll always be in the market and alert if something is interesting for us.”

Why do Rangers want to sign Hjerto-Dahl?

Given how good he is at 20, Rangers are confident that he is not just one for the present, but can develop into a quality player with a high resale value in the future.

Despite playing just three years of professional football, he has what it takes to strengthen the Light Blues’ strongest eleven.

He is known for his physicality and ability to read the game, and while it may take him a few weeks to adapt to life in Scotland, he should be among Derek McInnes‘ first names on the team sheet in no time.
