Rangers are in need of a midfield overhaul this summer as the likes of John Lundstram struggle, and Tom Davies could be an ideal replacement.
What’s the story?
Well – according to the Scottish Express – the Everton No.26 was wanted by Ross Wilson back in January alongside Todd Cantwell, although only the latter arrived at Ibrox.
However, Davies has seen no changes occur to his situation at Goodison Park since interest from Rangers arose, and he now looks set to be leaving Merseyside for nothing when his contract expires in July.
In our view, Rangers have to take advantage – the opportunity is too good to ignore.
Davies was nominated for the European Golden Boy award back in the 2018/19 campaign, eventually losing out to Matthijs de Ligt – who was signed by Bayern Munich for £68m in 2022.
The 24-year-old has also been compared to Steven Gerrard by talkSPORT after bursting onto the scene at Everton.
MORE RANGERS STORIES
Davies scored a remarkable dink – one which Lionel Messi would be proud of – in just his second Premier League start as the Toffees beat Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City 4-0 back in January 2017, when it seemed as if he would go on to do great things.
Unfortunately, the England Under-21 international has stagnated in recent years, much like Cantwell at Norwich, although he clearly has a huge amount of talent, which Michael Beale could benefit from.
Tom Davies can replace John Lundstram at Rangers
The signings of Cantwell and Nicolas Raskin were strong additions, although Beale clearly feels some reliance on the likes of Lundstram and Glen Kamara having started them in the Scottish League Cup final.
However, that reliance has to end – Rangers need freshening up, and the availability of the energetic Davies cannot be ignored, as he has the potential to breathe new life into the midfield department.

The transfer budget is not unlimited at Ibrox, so Wilson needs to be smart and take advantage of situations like this.
Davies could easily become one of the best midfielders in Scotland if he can rediscover his form – hopefully, Rangers explore his availability this summer, as midfield reinforcements are desperately needed.
